Panchakarma procedures
Vamanam
All Kapha-related diseases such as bronchitis, cold and cough are cured by this treatment. The process requires good attention and skilled assistance. Vamanam is also recommended in chronic skin diseases like psoriasis.
Virochanam
This therapy is recommended to attain the proper balance of Vatha, Pitha and Kapha through oral administration of medicine to purify the whole body. Virechanam is the method of cleaning and evacuation of the bowels, eliminating excess bile toxins from the body. It is very effective for osteoarthritis, psoriasis, chronic constipation and many digestive ailments.
Nasyam
In this treatment, 2–10 drops of medicated oil are poured into each nostril after a face and neck massage and steam. It eliminates toxins from the head and neck region and is useful in curing headaches, migraine, sinusitis, chronic cold, chest congestion, cervical spondylitis and facial palsy.
Dhoomapanam
Performed as Paschat or Pradhana Karma. In Dhoomapanam, the smoke of a lighted medicated varthi is inhaled through the nose and exhaled through the mouth.
Vasthi (Matra, Sneha & Kashaya Vasthi)
Vasti holds a very important place in the treatment of many disorders. Herbal oils, extracts and decoctions are administered through the rectum. This treatment is very good for arthritis, paralysis, hemiplegia, numbness, gastric complaints, constipation, neurological problems, chronic back pain, infertility, sciatica, obesity, digestive disorders and ulcers. It purifies the body, and maintains health and longevity.
Rakthamoksham
A medicinal leech sucks impure blood and aids ulcer healing, and can be used for the treatment of varicose veins and ulcers. It helps correct abnormalities in the blood, thereby resolving a number of problems.
